Carvin has a long history of creating single-cutaway instruments, dating back the the 1970's. The SC90, was introduced in 1995 in response to customer requests for the classic single-cutaway look, but with Carvin's craftsmanship and long list of available options. The SC90 represents over 60 years of experience that Carvin has in building the highest quality, USA-made instruments that are suitable for all playing styles at any level. The SC90 is constructed to the highest possible standards of quality and playability by Carvin's Custom Shop. The SC90 has an mahogany body and mahogany neck-through design, which means the neck runs the entire length of the instrument.
This adds to the sustain and stability of the neck, and allows the SC90 to have a minimal neck heel. Mahogany is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of its resonating tone. The neck and fingerboard have undergone a long conditioning process in a de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. The dual-action, fully adjustable truss rod helps keep the neck straight and true, and allows you to set the action just the way you like it. The headstock is a traditional 3 X 3 design. The SC90 has a standard 25' scale ebony fingerboard with abalone block inlays, a 14' radius and 24 medium-jumbo nickel frets. Carvin's 'Rapid Play' low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret.
